Upload files
There are three methods for uploading files:
Upload a single audio/video file: This is the simplest way to upload a single audio or video file and its accompanying caption, thumbnail, and chaptering XML files. This method does not use the Ingestion Spreadsheet.
Upload a ZIP file and the Ingestion Spreadsheet: For a project with multiple audio or video files, you can ZIP all its files (audios/videos, captions, thumbnails, chaptering XML), complete the Ingestion Spreadsheet, and upload both the ZIP file and Ingestion Spreadsheet.
Upload files to the Media Server and upload the Ingestion Spreadsheet: When a ZIP file is so large that it can have maximum file-size issues (such as browser time outs and the GCS 1 GB limit), you can upload the files directly to the video ingest directory on the Media Server. Then complete the Ingestion Spreadsheet—including the files' paths on the Media Server—and upload the Ingestion Spreadsheet. This is often referred to as the "Media Server method."
- You can upload either a spreadsheet and a ZIP file or a spreadsheet containing links to your files on the Media Server.
- There is no need to upload a zip file with audio/video and supporting files when using the Media Server method.
- You cannot combine files uploaded using the Media Server method with files uploaded using a ZIP file in the same Ingestion Spreadsheet.
