Create, copy, or delete a course

Planning to pair a Modified Mastering course with an LMS? You’ll create or copy the course from your LMS instead of following the instructions below. For course pairing instructions, see Instructor Help for using Modified Mastering with your LMS.

1. Sign in at Pearson MyLab and Mastering.

   Standard Mastering courses have next to the course name and open in a new tab or window. Modified Mastering courses do not.

2. Select Create/copy course.

3. Select a link below for instructions that apply to your situation.

   • Create a new Modified Mastering course (You can no longer create a standard Mastering course.) Compare Modified Mastering with standard Mastering
   • Copy one of your courses or another instructor’s course
     You can copy either Modified Mastering or standard Mastering courses this way.
   • Copy a course to a new edition

You or a section instructor in the course might need to complete one or more of the following, in any order that works for you.

• Work with a copied course
• Add section instructors (assistants) for Modified Mastering
• Create, copy, edit or delete assignments
• Set availability and due dates (and times) for assignments
• Add course announcements
• Get your students started

Instructor course owners can delete a course they have created or copied. To delete an LMS course pairing, see Instructor Help for using Modified Mastering with your LMS.

Important: Be sure to export any student grades before you delete a student course that has ended. You can't retrieve a deleted course.

Students cannot access a course beyond its end date. Instructors can typically access a student course for a year after it ends.

You are notified by email when a course will be automatically deleted. Similar to when you delete a course, you should export any student grades before the deletion.
