Work in your LMS
Using an LMS? You can send (sync) grades from MyLab to your learning management system gradebook if you work in Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle, Sakai, or Schoology.
Grades automatically sync when students complete their assignments, but there might be a brief delay.
Important: Syncing is one-way, from your MyLab gradebook to your LMS gradebook.

How you set up grade sync is flexible, but Pearson recommends this approach:
-
Before you begin: From your LMS course, select the MyLab and Mastering or Pearson link and, if needed, link your accounts. Then pair your LMS course with a new or copied MyLab course. To learn more, start from your learning management system online help.
- Open your MyLab course from your LMS and create assignments, if necessary.
- In your MyLab Gradebook, select Grade Sync Settings from the toolbar.
- On the Grade Sync Settings page, choose how to sync grades. See Grade sync options for information on these choices.
- When you sync by assignment grades:
- Clear Send to <LMS> for any assignments you don’t want to sync.
- Select that assignment weighting is correct. If not, adjust weightings on the Change Weights page.
- Enable grade sync in your LMS after students enroll.

Assignment Raw Scores
The raw score from your MyLab is the score sent to your LMS gradebook. For example, if your assignment has 5 questions worth 3 points each, the LMS item will be worth 15 points total.
- One point for every question in an assignment.
- Creates LMS grade items for each Pearson assignment unless you uncheck Send to <LMS>.
- Assignment grades are calculated using points earned over the total points possible.
- Category weighting is done in your LMS.
- Before students open an assignment, you can change question point values in the Assignment Manager.
Assignment Weighted Scores
The assignment weight determines the total point value in your LMS gradebook. For example, if your assignment has 5 questions worth 3 points each, but the assignment weight is set to 10, then the LMS grade item will show a total of 10 points.
- You choose how many points assignments are worth.
- Creates LMS grade items for each Pearson assignment unless you uncheck Send to <LMS>.
- The default assignment weighting is 10 points, but this weighting can be changed to 100 to reflect percentages in your LMS.
- Assignment values are specified and can be adjusted on the MyLab Change Weights page.
- Category weighting is done in your LMS.
- Question point values can be changed anytime.
Only Overall Scores
A single LMS grade item is created with a total 100 available points. The MyLab percentage overall score will have the equivalent value in points in your LMS.
- One average score for all MyLab assignments.
- Individual assignment grades are not synced.
- Overall grades are based on category and on weighted points as specified on the Change Weights page.

When grade sync is enabled:
- Zeros for incomplete assignments are synced only after you submit zeros on the Manage Incompletes page.
- Scores on a test or quiz are not synced until students select Submit for the assignment.
- Scores earned before grade sync is enabled are not synced, but you can sync them manually.
To avoid syncing issues:
- Change assignment names, chapter associations, and students’ grades only in your MyLab gradebook.
- Do not create an assignment in your LMS gradebook with the same name as a MyLab assignment.
- To delete or rename an assignment, make the change in both the MyLab and LMS gradebooks. Assignment names are case-sensitive.
Some MyLab features cannot be synced with your LMS gradebook:
- Dropped lowest scores
- Assignments omitted or included
- Scoring options (except for attempts to include)
