Import assignments from another course
Import assignments from your own course or from another instructor's course using the Import Assignments wizard
To open the Import Assignments wizard:
- In the Assignment Manager, select Create > Import from another course.
or
In the Homework/Test Manager, select Create Test > Import/Copy Tests from another program. - Follow the steps in the Import Assignments wizard.

- Choose an import option. This step displays only when your textbook questions can be matched with another edition of the book or a similar book.
- Import assignments from other courses using this book — Assignments from other instructors must be set to allow others to import.
- Convert and import assignments from courses using a previous edition of your textbook or related books with similar coverage — Only questions that exactly match your current textbook are imported. The questions are renumbered to match your current textbook.

- Assignments from my courses for this book — Select this option when your course uses the same textbook.
- Assignments from other instructors' courses at... — Select this option when the course is taught by another instructor at your school.
If your institution doesn’t display, you can:- Select Change to choose an institution from which to import assignments. This change does not impact your account. To change the institution on your account, Edit your account settings.
- Select the third option, Assignments from instructors at...
- Assignments from instructors at — Choose a school or learning management system. For MyLab and Mastering, MathXL or MathXL for School, select CourseCompass/XL.
- ... with this log-in — Enter the other instructor's username. You do not need their password.
- Reload publisher activities from the master course — Select this option to import the prebuilt assignments that originally came with your course. You might choose this option if:
- There are new or updated assignments to the prebuilt master course (such as MediaShare assignments) and you want those updates.
- You edited copies of the prebuilt assignments and want new copies of the original assignments to start fresh.

Select the textbook from the book list, if applicable, and choose a course or program to import from.

- Optionally use the filter buttons to display only one category of assignment.
- Choose assignments to import from the table or select the checkbox in the table head to import all assignments.
- Optionally choose Import Assignment Settings to include settings, such as start and end dates and review options.
- Select Import.

After the import, you see a summary of the imported assignments:
- When you imported from a different book, you see any questions that were excluded because they do not match questions in your existing textbook.
- If you imported custom questions from a course using a different book, you see these questions and must manually update associations from the Assignment Manager.

- Personalized homework settings are not imported with assignments.
- Prerequisites are not imported with assignments.
- Show Work settings and media are not imported in assignments from a previous edition.
- Learning Catalytics modules are not imported.
