Import tests from another program

How the import works depends on the type of question:

• When a testbank question exactly matches a question in the new version of your testbank, the question ID is modified to match the number in the new testbank.
• When a testbank question does not map to the current testbank, it is omitted from the import.
• When you are importing from your own programs, any custom questions that you created are imported but must be manually mapped to the testbank.

Imported tests include custom questions that you created or that are associated with the same edition of the testbank you are importing from. If you are importing from a previous edition, you cannot import custom questions that were created by other instructors or that you created in a different account.

1. From the Test Manager, select Create Test > Import/Copy Tests from another program.
2. On step 1, the Start tab, choose an import option:
   • Import assignments from other program using this book — Assignments from other instructors must be set to allow others to import.
   • Convert and import assignments from programs using a previous edition of this book or related books with similar coverage — Only questions that exactly match your current textbook are imported. The questions are renumbered to match your current textbook.

     This step displays only when your textbook questions can be matched with another edition of the book or a similar book.

3. Select Next.
4. On step 2, the Select Import Options tab, choose tests to import:
   • Assignments from my programs — Imports tests from your own programs.
   • Assignments from other instructors' programs — Imports tests from programs administered by others at your institution. If your institution doesn’t display, you can:

     • Edit your account to change the institution.

     • Select the third option, Assignments from instructors at...

   • Assignments from instructors at ... with this login — Imports tests from an instructor at another institution.

     Choose the institution from the list and enter the instructor's log-in name in the text box.

     Other instructor's tests must be marked Allow other instructors to import in the test settings.

5. Select Next.
6. On step 3, the Choose Program tab, select the program to import.
7. Select Next.
8. On step 4, the Select Assignments tab, select the check box next the assignments to import.
9. Select Import Assignment Settings to include test settings, such as such as start and end dates and review options.
10. Select Import.
