Element grading (Mohr's circle questions)

Use element grading to set grading tolerance for the correct answer and to add/edit wrong answers for a Mohr's circle question.
- From a Mohr's circle Answer box, select
to open the graphing tool and settings for the question.
- Select element grading to set the tolerance for student work to be graded as correct or to add/edit wrong answers. (It doesn’t matter whether “Initial plot location” or Correct answer” is selected in the drawing tool.)
- Instructions are provided in the sections below.
- If working on a laptop, the settings box may appear below the workspace.
- Choose Save (bottom right) to return to your view of the item in the Simple Editor.

The default grading tolerances are set to 0, meaning that the correct answer must be exact.
To allow for greater tolerance, select Edit next to Correct Answer, then set the tolerance you want.
- Coordinate tolerance (units) — Enter or select a tolerance value for points to be graded as correct.
- Angle tolerance (degrees) — Enter or select a tolerance value for radial lines to be graded as correct.

- For the Mohr's circle question, select
, then element grading.
- Select
Add Wrong Answer for a numbered wrong answer row to appear.

Choose
Edit.
- Select one or more of the grading conditions that appear below “WrongAnswer x”. (You may need to open some options to see all of the conditions.) The example below is for a Mohr's circle drawing question.
- Select Save.
The tool closes and “WrongAnswer x” appears next to “If the student answers:” in the bending moment part.
- Add wrong answer feedback —
From the Mohr's circle part question in the item, select Enter your wrong-answer feedback in the Show this response box, using your keyboard and options from the editing toolbar and menus. - Reorder wrong answers —
From grading elements, selectMove Up or
Move Down in the row for the wrong answer.
- Copy wrong answers —
From grading elements, selectCopy in the row for the wrong answer. A new row appears below the current row.
- Delete a wrong answer —
From grading elements, selectDelete in the row for the wrong answer.
