Edit assignments

The View and Manage All Assignments page (also called the Homework/Test Manager) lists assignments and lets you manage them.
To use this page:
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select View and Manage All Assignments.
- Optionally use the filters at the top of the list to display only assignments in individual modules or topics or show assigned/unassigned assignments.
- Choose an option from the Actions menu for an assignment. Depending on your content area, the Actions menu offers:

Select this option to change the assignment status. Students can no longer see an unassigned assignment, but any results for the assignment are preserved.
If your course uses activity completion for topic/lesson mastery, unassigned assignments contribute to mastery evaluation unless you omit them.
You cannot unassign Reading Level or Learning Catalytics assignments.

Opens the Create/Edit Assignments wizard, where you can change the content and settings for the assignment.
To edit a preloaded assignment, copy the assignment and then edit the copy.
You cannot edit Reading Level assignments. Edit Learning Catalytics assignments from within the application.

Opens the Copy Assignment wizard, where you can make a copy of the assignment.

Select this option to remove the assignment.
Using an LMS? If your MyLab gradebook is synchronized with your learning management system gradebook, you must manually remove the assignment from the LMS gradebook.

Opens the Customize Assignment Settings Per Student page, where you can customize assignment settings for selected students.

Opens the Create/Edit Assignments wizard where you can change the requirements students need to meet to prove competency.

Opens the Remove/Replace Questions page, where you can choose questions to remove from an assignment.
Removed questions are automatically scored as correct. Students have already worked a removed question cannot review it.

Opens the question so you can view it as students will see it.
For a pooled assignment, you can select the version to preview.

Opens a list of the questions in the assignment and their details.

Opens the Print window where you can choose how to print the assignment, including whether to offer an answer key.
For algorithmic questions, the question values are regenerated each time you print.
For Show Work questions, extra lines appear after the question so students can write in the steps they took to get the answer.

The Change Settings for Multiple Assignments page lets you make batch changes to assignment settings.
To use this page:
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select Batch Change Class Settings.
- Choose the assignment type from the list and then select whether to update all assignments or selected assignments. Select Choose to select specific assignments.
- Update the assignment settings.
- Select Apply Settings.

The Change Due Dates & Assign Status page lets you change due dates, assign/unassign, and set conditions for late submissions.
To use this page:
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select Change Due Dates and Assignment Status.
- Above the table, optionally use the filters to display assignments by category, module, and topic.
- If you are changing dates, select whether to enter each date manually using a calendar or whether to change dates by adding and subtracting days.
- Select the assignments you want to edit or select the box in the header to select all assignments.
- Optionally select Review Individual Student Settings below an assignment name to check for review individual student settings.
- Enter your changes and select Apply to Selected for each column where you make changes.
- Choose how to apply your settings, especially if you are working in a coordinator course:
- Update All Settings - In a coordinator course, applies your new settings and any existing settings to all member sections in a course group. If the instructor of a member section has made other changes in the member course, your new changes plus all the other settings in the coordinator course overwrite the section instructor's edits.
- Update Changes Only - In a coordinator course, applies only your new settings to member sections. Any other changes made to a member section by its instructor are not affected

- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select Change Assignment Settings.
- Above the table, optionally use the filters to display assignments by category, module, and topic.
- For the assignments you want to edit, optionally change the name or unit (if applicable). Check the boxes to allow other instructors to import your assignments or allow students to get partial credit for questions with more than one part.
- Select Update Settings to apply your changes.

You can change the gradebook category of tests to quiz and vice versa.
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Customize in the list of tasks, select Change Assignment Categories.
- Above the table, optionally use the filters to display assignments by category, module, and topic.
- Under gradebook category for the assignment, select either Test or Quiz.
- Select Update Categories to apply your changes.

- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Organize in the list of tasks, select Reorder Assignments.
- Above the table, use the filter to display assignments by module.
- On the Reorder Assignments page, use the selector on the left of an assignment to drag it to the correct position.
You also can sort assignments by column header - for example, select Start Date to arrange assignments by starting date.

- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Organize in the list of tasks, select Delete Assignments.
- Above the table, optionally use the filters to display assignments by category, module, and topic.
- On the Delete Assignments page, select the assignments you want to delete.
You cannot delete assignments with results.
Using an LMS? If your MyLab gradebook is synchronized with your learning management system gradebook, you must manually remove the assignment from the LMS gradebook.

In assignment pools, assignments that cover similar material are grouped together so that students can attempt the material more than once. When students do a pooled assignment, they see a different assignment in the pool for each attempt. If the number attempts allowed exceeds the number of assignments in a pool, then the students might get the same assignment more than once.
To match the number of attempts to the number of assignments in a pool:
- Open the Manage Assignments page for the content area.
- Under Organize in the list of tasks, select Auto-assign Assignment Attempts.
- Above the table, optionally use the filters to display assignments by category, module, and topic.
- On the Auto-assign Attempts page, select the assignments to match.

- You must edit writing and Lexile Locator assignments individually.
- You cannot delete or edit Learning Catalytics assignments from this page.
- Reading Level assignments cannot be deleted.
- You cannot edit assignment settings in institutional courses.
