Pre-tests and post-tests
In a MyLab Nursing course, a pre-test gives you a baseline assessment of your knowledge before you start working on a lesson. Your pre-test results provide you with an adaptive learning experience: MyLab Nursing adapts your Learning Path to offer specific Remember activities and Apply assessments based on your pre-test results. These are Remember and Apply assignments that focus on the learning outcomes that you did not master in the pre-test.
By default, you can take a pre-test only once and have 60 minutes to complete it. A pre-test's score is recorded in the Gradebook, but is not included in the calculation of your final grade. As part of the lesson's homework, you are required to Review the pre-test results. For each question, the Review shows the correct answer and, if different, the answer you selected. For each question, the Review also displays the rationale for the correct answer. After completing the Review, you can continue with the assigned Remember and Apply assignments.
Most lessons have a post-test that measures your mastery of the learning objective. All other lesson activities must be completed before you can access the post-test. You can take a post-test only once, and the post-test is 100% of your grade for that lesson. (No other activities are included in a lesson's grade.)
Your instructor can change the default settings for pre-tests and post-tests.
