Add activity messages

The activity Messages page lets you enter messages, such as activity directions, that students can read at the beginning and end of an activity. When enabled in your course, students can also view activity directions (MyLab Languages only). Including messages is optional.

  1. Add an activity, select the behavioral mode, and add questions to the activity (MyLab Languages or add an activity and add questions to it (MyLab IT)
  2. Click Messages.
  3. Enter text in the following fields using the content editor:
    • In Beginning of activity, type the message to display at the beginning of the activity.
    • In Direction lines, type activity directions. On the activity Preferences page, you can specify whether directions appear on the first page of the activity or on each page. See Set preferences for an activity. To include directions for each section within an activity, see Enter question group directions. (MyLab Languages only)

      Section-level activity directions are not available in all courses. The Directions option appears in MyLab Languages courses if you select Enable Direction Lines in activity sections on the course Preferences > Activities page. Instructors must enable this feature for teaching assistants.

    • In End of activity, type the message to display at the end of the activity.
  4. To format message text, or record an audio message, if enabled, click Edit HTML to open the content editor.
  5. To define a grade schema for the activity, click Save and Continue.
