Update multiple files using the Ingestion Spreadsheet

Use this procedure to update multiple files that you previously uploaded to the Media Server either directly or as part of a ZIP file.

  1. Create a new Ingestion Spreadsheet, noting the following:
    • Reference ID: Use the same Reference ID that was used for the previous update/upload of the assets. If you need to look up the Reference ID, see Search by keyword or Reference ID.

If you use a Reference ID that does not already exist, a new asset will be created. Also see Add your own Reference ID. (GCS does not have a way to check for uniqueness of a Reference ID; the Business Units have to ensure uniqueness.)

    • Enter only the values in the spreadsheet that need to change; however, ContentClass and ContentType must always be entered even if you are not changing them.
    • Only a file of the same type can replace an existing file. For example, you can replace a video file only with another video file.
    • If you're using the Media Server and Ingestion Spreadsheet method, you must make a change in the URL. Either change the asset's name or move it to a different location on the Media Server (such as a subfolder). If you try to ingest a spreadsheet with the exact same URL, you'll get the error that a file "... is a duplicate of the file already present for this asset, updating with a duplicate is not allowed."
  2. Upload your new Ingestion Spreadsheet, audio/video files, and/or assets using either of the following methods:

  • Allow the current update to process through the Platform before updating the same asset again. Updating the same asset before the previous one completes will result in a validation error.
  • A Reference ID can appear only once in a spreadsheet.
