Resources
Resources is a collection of topics comprising written and multimedia explanations of concepts along with practice exercises all aimed at helping students learn on their own. In a typical scenario, a student would take the grammar and research self-assessments. Then, based on the student's scores, the MyLab would require Resource topics that the student needs to work on and list them in the student's My Study Plan.
The MyLab provides Resource topics in Writing, Grammar, and Research. Topics can have any or all of the following assets; click an asset's link to display its description.
eText or text-based instructions
define and provide examples of concepts. Some instructional assets also have a QuickCheck. The QuickCheck poses one or two questions or examples, and the student selects an answer. The MyLab then lets the student know whether the selected answer is correct or incorrect and why.
Videos, animations, interactive activities, podcasts, and other audio recordings
reinforce the topic introduced by the instructional asset. The content of these media assets ranges from showing instructors and students working together to decide on the topic for a paper and strategies for developing a draft to guidelines on peer reviews and avoiding plagiarism.
Exercises
provide students with the opportunity to practice and apply what they have learned with the instructional and multimedia assets. The MyLab gives immediate feedback to a student's answer, letting the student know whether the answer is correct or incorrect, and which answer is correct and why. Within an exercise, the MyLab also provides access to the instructional and multimedia assets to help reinforce the concept. The MyLab logs each student's exercise results in the gradebook.
Depending on the MyLab you're using, there may be additional topics. For example, MyLiteratureLab has topics that give your students access to the Longman Lectures and Interactive Readings.
