What do I need to know about course dates?
- Course creation dates are in US Eastern Time. (This simplifies course creation management. It's not visible to students.)
- Assignment dates and course start/end dates are always in the course timezone.
- Student access begins on the course start date and ends early the next morning after the course end date. (For example, if you select Jun 1, 2021 as the end date, student access ends early in the morning of Jun 2, 2021 Eastern Time.)
- You can change the start date for student courses anytime before students enroll. After the first student enrolls, a 90-day limit for course start date changes takes effect.
- The course end date can be up to 24 months from the course start date. (The maximum duration might be shorter for some materials. See course details to find the maximum course end date for your course.)
- Tip: Set the course end date a month after the last day of classes to allow students time to complete makeup work or study for final exams. Save grade data as soon as student access ends.
- As the course owner (creator) you can access the course until it's automatically deleted, about one year after student access ends. Before the course is deleted, you'll receive several email reminders to export the gradebook and make a copy of your course for reuse later.
- Edit Enrollment Dates (student courses only). Use the calendar to select the dates when students can enroll.
What do I need to know about enrollment dates?
- Course enrollment dates are in US Eastern Time.
- Consider allowing students to enroll for a relatively short period. This helps you to control course enrollment. You can reopen enrollment as necessary by changing enrollment dates.
- Students with temporary access can pay anytime to gain full access to the course, even after the enrollment period ends or after temporary access expires. Students should use their existing username and password from temporary access. Do not create a new account when upgrading access.
- Using an LMS? Enrollment dates don’t display for courses paired with a learning management system course. To learn more, start from your learning management system online help.
- Allow Copy: Select Instructors can copy this course.
How can other instructors copy my course?
- Send the course ID to other instructors so they can make a copy of your course.
- When another instructor makes a copy of your course, all content copies except for the gradebook, roster, and calendar events.
- Clear this option to prevent other instructors from copying the course. As the course creator (owner), you can still copy your own course.
- Select Save changes.
