End your course
When you finish your course or upgrade to a new edition of your textbook, you can copy your customizations and assignments into a new course. You also can export student data or import student results into a new course.
A course is permanently deleted 12 months after its end date. During that time, you get email with instructions on how to preserve or export your course materials.
- In MyLab and Mastering courses, go to My Courses and select Create/copy a course. See Create a course for details.
- In MathXL and MathXL for School, select Course Manager from the menu, choose the course, and select Actions > Copy. See Create or copy a course in MathXL or MathXL for School
- Using an LMS? Copy courses delivered in an LMS from your learning management system.
You can copy a course to use as a coordinator and preserve your customizations. See Work with course groups for more information.
- In the Assignment Manager, select Create > Import from another course.
- Select your import options in the Import Assignments wizard.
Tests, quizzes, and homework assignments from the earlier course are added to the new course, but media assignments are not imported.
To keep a record of student results, export the Gradebook data from the old course to a CSV file.
To import student results into a course:
- Open the Gradebook.
- Select More Tools > Import Previous Results.
- For each student moving to the new course, select Import Results.
If the new course already contains assignments or gradebook results, the imported information is added to the existing information.
Using an LMS? You might need to first remove the course pairing if your course is paired with Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Moodle, Sakai, or Schoology.
