Prepare your program

Use the online testing tools to assess students’ strengths and knowledge gaps.

You can:

  • Evaluate students' skill levels to help you place them into the most appropriate courses.
  • Provide corequisite learning in conjunction with another course.
  • Help students prepare for a test, optionally with the Study Plan.
  • Offer a short refresher course for remediation.

After students do tests, you can set up automatic course recommendations or place students manually.

You also can use the course recommendation feature for messaging students when you use your program for a summer boot camp, test preparation, or a corequisite solution. For example, instead of using the email template to tell students their placement, you could send a message like "Work in your Study Plan" with additional guidance.

Students' test results generate individualized recommendations in their Study Plan, where students can practice and test their mastery. You can customize and monitor students' practice work in the Study Plan.

You can create:

  • Fixed tests where you can select questions from the testbank, adapt sample tests, or create and add your own questions.
  • Adaptive tests that assesses students' prerequisite knowledge for the courses that you associate with the test.
  • A grouped series of tests that increase in difficulty, with prerequisites set for all but the first test.

To deter cheating, you can:

  • Use the Pearson LockDown Browser to prevents students from opening applications or other browser windows while they are taking tests online.
  • Use Respondus Monitor Proctoring with the Pearson LockDown Browser to remotely monitor and record students taking a test using webcams and screen sharing.
  • Use question pools to group similar exercises into a single question on a test. When students do the question, they are randomly presented with one of the exercises from the pool.

In your gradebook, you can view and manage results and place students.
