Work individual Mastering items as you preview or select content
- Open to the list of assignable items available for your textbook by doing one of the following:
- Filter the available content by making selections from the drop-down lists and check boxes above the list of items.
- Select an item title, and complete the item. The item appears in Standard View, which is how students would see it.
- For details on how to enter answers and submit items — Refer to the Student Help on Submitting assignment answers.
- To view the answers with all available hints exposed — Change Standard View to Solution View (top right).
.
- If the item contains hidden parts — Select View all hidden parts. (Students see such hidden parts only after they complete previous parts.)

- To clear your work to start over — Select Restart Work. (Any originally hidden parts will be hidden again.)
- To work the next item in your filtered list, select Next Item (top) or
(bottom right).
If you find an issue with an item — Select the Contact the Publisher (top left) for the item, and provide details.
Work items in a Mastering assignment
- Open the assignment in Student View by doing one of the following:
Mastering presents any instructor-authored message or instructions added to the assignment above the assigned items. If the assignment is pooled, you see all items in each pool, with a banner at the top reminding you that each student is given only a subset of the items in each pool.

If the assignment has substitute item titles, such as "Item 1" or "Question 1," you can still see the real titles by pointing to each title to reveal the "rollover" text that is visible only to instructors and section instructors.
- Select an item title, and complete the item.
If the item contains hidden parts, which students see only after they have completed previous parts, select View all hidden parts to see all parts without completing any of them.

- Continue to work through items.
Change the student experience with the assignment
After you preview or work an assignment, you can make changes to assignment items, how the items are presented or graded, and how the items are organized. Open the assignment for editing and select a page in the Create/Edit Assignment
process.
