Answer math questions

When you're working on math questions, you can enter your answers using one or a combination of the following methods.

  • Enter your answer in the empty text box.

    Enter the answer into the text box.

  • Use the calculator and then copy and paste the answer into the answer box.
  • Use the math palette for answers that require special mathematical formats and symbols (for example, fractions and square roots). Also see Use math palette and Tips on using the math palette.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts to enter math symbols and functions. See Use keyboard shortcuts for details.
  • Select Clear All to clear your current answer and return the problem to its original state so you can enter a new answer. In questions that have multiple parts, only the answer to the current part is cleared.
  • Select an answer from a multiple-choice list.

    A simple multiple-choice question may have two possible answers: Yes or No.

  • Plot your answer on a number line. Use your cursor to drag the arrow-shaped pointer to the correct point on the line:

  • Plot the answer on a graph. See Use the grapher for details.
