Create or select post-tests

Updated 19 Feb 2024

In MyLanguageLabs, you build readiness checks and practice tests with study plans using the study plan activity type.

  1. Add the readiness check, create or select the pre-test, and select and add study materials.
  2. In the PostTest section, click Create Test.
  3. If prompted, locate and open the folder in the Course Materials Library where you want to save the post-test and click Add and Close.
  4. On the Activity Details page, enter the appropriate information and click Save and Continue. Note that the basic/random behavioral mode is the default behavioral mode for readiness checks.
  5. On the Questions page, add questions. You can base question choices on the learning objectives you want to cover in the readiness check or course. You can add only auto-graded question types; you cannot add essay or file upload question types to a post-test.
  6. On the HelpLinks page, include any course materials, web, or eText links you want to include to help students complete the post-test. For details, see Add activity HelpLinks.
  7. On the Messages page, include any beginning or ending messages or directions you want to display to students. For details, see Add activity messages.
  8. On the Grades page, select a post-test grade schema. For details, see Define a pre- or post-test grade schema.
  9. On the Teaching Support page, add additional information or links to assist instructors or teaching assistants who will teach the course.
  10. On the Preferences page, define post-test settings. For example, you can specify how the post-test functions for students, what features are available, the test presentation style, and which feedback options are available to students. For details, see Set preferences for pre- and post-tests. If you do not change any settings, the post-test uses the default settings.
  11. To save your post-test, click Save and Return.

By design, students have an unlimited number of attempts on a readiness check post-test.
