Manage scores
You can change assignment scores for an individual student or multiple students at one time. For example, when students hand in an assignment late, you could reduce their scores by 5%.
When you enter a non-zero score on a homework, the student can no longer enter the assignment, even if the due date has not yet passed.
You also can give students full credit for a question on a test or quiz.
- In the Gradebook, select a student’s name to see the instructor view of their Results page.
- For an assignment, select Actions > Change Score or Submit Score, depending on whether the assignment already has a score.
- On the Change Score/Submit Score page, enter a new score in the Points Correct box. You also can enter a new value in the Points Total box.
- If you sync grades with your learning management system's gradebook, optionally select Do not send score to prevent the new grade from syncing.
- In the Gradebook, select Assignments under View Results By and choose an assignment category to view.
- Select the pencil icon in the Change Scores row for the assignment.
- On the Change Scores page, either:
- Select Increase or Decrease from the menu, enter the amount to increase or decrease, and select whether to apply the amount in points or as a percentage.
You can increase scores above 100%, but you cannot change a score of zero by a percentage. (Submit scores from a student's Results page to change a zero score.)
- Select Change correct points to to set an absolute number of points to apply.
You can add points to a zero score.
- Select Increase or Decrease from the menu, enter the amount to increase or decrease, and select whether to apply the amount in points or as a percentage.
- Select the students whose score should change. To select all the students, select the check box in the column header.
Students' names are listed when they have incomplete assignments or assignments that need manual grading. Inactive students and section instructors are not shown.
- Select Calculate Score to see the adjusted scores.
Use the Learning Catalytics application to change scores for these assignments.
If a test or quiz has a problematic question, you can award full credit for that question to all students.
- In the Gradebook, select Assignments under View Results By and choose the test or quiz category.
- Select IA next to the average score for the test or quiz to open the assignment's Item Analysis page.
- Optionally select a question number to view the question in the player.
- On the Item Analysis page, select the check box in the Score as Correct column for the problematic question.
When you score a question as correct:
- Students cannot work on the question or review it.
- When the question is included in a question pool, students get full credit for the pooled question.
You also can remove or replace questions in an assignment after students have worked on it.
- In the Gradebook, use the Search field to search for student, or select a student’s name to see the instructor view of their Results page.
- On the student's Results page, select Review for the assignment.
- Select Revise Grade.
- In the Submit Score window, change the points.
- Select Submit Score.
- Refresh the gradebook to see the revised score.
