Take TestGen tests and quizzes

You use the TestGen plug-into take tests and quizzes that your instructor created in the TestGen application.

If you do not have the TestGen plug-in, go to the Browser Check for your course and follow the directions to install the plug-in.

Note: If you use a Macintosh, use Safari to take TestGen tests. TestGen is not fully compatible with Firefox on the Macintosh. If you use a PC, we recommend using Internet Explorer.

To take a TestGen test or quiz:

  1. Read the instructions carefully and enter your answer. TestGen questions are often multiple choice. In this case, choose an answer by clicking its letter.

    If you need help using the TestGen plug-in, click the ? (question mark) at the top right of the TestGen window.

  2. Click Next and Previous to move between test questions.

    At the top of the window, the number of the test question is shown, along with the total number of questions in the test and the number of questions you have not yet answered.

  3. (Optional) Click Bookmark to mark a question you want to return to later. A red triangle appears in the top left corner of the TestGen window for any questions you bookmark. Click Bookmark again to remove the bookmark from a question.
  4. (Optional) Click Summary to see which questions you have answered, bookmarked, and skipped. Click a question number or click Back to return to the TestGen window.
  5. When you have completed the test, click Submit to submit your score to the Gradebook and update your Study Plan.

    A summary of your test performance is displayed. You can either review your test, if your instructor allows test review, or click Done to go your Results page.

  6. (Optional) Click Review on the test summary page to see the test questions and your answers. Depending on how your instructor has set up the test, you may also see the correct answers.

    The Review button only appears on the test summary page if your instructor allows you to review the test after taking it.

    Your instructor may also allow you to print out the test with or without the correct answers shown. If printing is allowed, the Print Test button appears in the test review window.

  7. Click Done when you are finished reviewing the test. Your Results page is displayed.
