Use the Mastering Course Home

The Course Home page for Mastering lets you quickly jump to features, like course settings or assignments.
Use the links from the Course Home to help you manage your course and assignments.
- The Learn more about Mastering area shows the textbook or other resource upon which your course is based, some course information (course name, course ID, course duration, and time zone), some handy links for instructor Help, and a What's New section that may list new resources in the course.
- Select Gradebook Settings for display preferences; assignment categories and weighting; offline activities; and to import or export Gradebook data.
- Select Course settings to set the time zone for assignments, whether students can see their total score, and other settings.
- Create, review, or schedule assignments
- Get tips to get your students started.
Options can vary slightly, depending on whether the course is new or a copied course.
- Shows average score and student completion data for up to 5 most recently due assignments and up to 5 due next, based on the assignment creation date.
- From here you can also open course assignments in list view ( All Assignments), in calendar view ( Calendar), or create an assignment.
- Shows the Mastering Average Score % for the course at a glance.
- Search by student name to see see an individual student’s scores for the course. This is quicker then opening the Gradebook, which calculates all assignment grades for all students before opening.
- Provides links to the Gradebook, Gradebook Settings and a set of Quick Links to different areas of the Gradebook.
If your course provides Dynamic Study Modules, select Dynamic Study Modules to preview and optionally step through these learning modules. To assign modules, select assignments.
Provides links for Learning Catalytics ("In-class Learning"), Announcements, Learn More (opens the Learn More about Mastering page, described in the next section), and Getting Started (adds this area to the top of the page if you closed it earlier).
To open the Learn More about Mastering page: Either select this option from the Getting Started area (top) or select Learn More from the Enrich Your Course area (bottom) of the Course Home.
- Lists the textbook upon which the course is based and provides course information, help resources, and lists new content in the course.
- When applicable, it also includes a link to a document about new content compared with the earlier edition textbook (“List of content changes”).
The student Course Home page focuses the student's attention on assignments, including past due, upcoming, and completed. This sample shows assignments in list vs calendar view.

Depending on the content in your course, the menu can provide options for My Courses, Course Home, Assignments, Roster, Gradebook, Item Library, eTextbook, Dynamic Study Modules, Study Area, Instructor Resources, and Course Settings.
Choose (top left) to either show more on a content page or to recall the menu. When you narrow the browser window to a minimal width, Mastering content goes gray to remind you to hide the course menu.
