Add/remove section instructors and give privileges

To share course administration or teaching tasks with one or more colleagues or teaching assistants,
Important for student section instructors in Direct integration courses: Students in other courses in the same Mastering discipline, such as Biology or Physics, must use a different account to be a section instructor in your LMS course. (Otherwise, they’ll be unable to participate as students in other courses in the same Mastering discipline.)

Colleagues or assistants who are to become section instructors must do one of the following:
- Register for Mastering as an Educator and sign in at least once
- Register for Mastering as a Student with a complimentary student access code and sign in at least once.
The prospective section instructor must also let you know the username for his or her Pearson Education account.
- Select the course for which you want to add a section instructor.
- Select Course Settings from the course menu or from the Getting Started area of the Course Home.
- Scroll down to the Section Instructors section, and select Manage Section Instructors.
- Enter the person's Pearson account username, and then select Add.
- Select the privileges, if any, for this section instructor, and select Save Privileges.
To remove a section instructor, select the Remove check box at the far right and choose Save Privileges.
A section instructor can automatically see answers to questions in the Item Library, without being granted any privileges in the course. Section instructors who

You can grant privileges to any section instructor to allow them to access additional activities.

Gradebook |
Adjust student scores and other settings, which include changing student grades; awarding assignment exemptions and extensions (including time limits for timed assignments); and resetting an assignment for one or more students to allow them to redo it for a different score. Manage Mastering Gradebook tasks, which include editing categories and weighting; creating and scoring offline (non-Mastering) activities; exporting Gradebook data; and setting preferences for that person's Gradebook view. Note: Removing the Gradebook privilege does not prevent a section instructor from seeing answers for items. |
Course Settings |
Update course information such as the course expiration date, course time zone, and whether students can enroll at this time. |
Roster |
Edit Student IDs and assign students to groups. |
Groups |
Add and remove groups into which students are placed. Adding, removing, or changing groups does not affect the enrollment of the students who are in those groups. |
Section Instructors |
Add, give privileges to, or delete section instructors. Section instructors given this privilege cannot modify their own privileges. |
Assignments |
Create and edit course assignments, including editing assignment settings, selecting and organizing items for assignments, associating items with learning outcomes, and specifying assignment dates. Note: Removing the Assignments privilege does not prevent a section instructor from viewing correct answers for items in the Item Library. |
Announcements |
Add, edit, and delete any Mastering Course Home page announcement. |
Essays |
Grade and regrade essays and other free-form text. Also requires the Mastering Gradebook privilege (see above). |
Learning Catalytics |
Complete all instructor tasks in Learning Catalytics courses, modules, and sessions. These include editing course settings, setting up modules, delivering sessions, reviewing results, and editing scores. |
