Search existing courses to copy
Updated 08 Nov 2023
After you Select from my existing course list or search for a course ID on the Create a Course page, choose the course you want to copy on the Search Existing Courses page.
You can also copy one of your own courses by selecting on the tile of the course you want to copy, then choosing Copy this course.
To discard your search results and return to the My Courses page, select Exit.
Using an LMS? To return to your learning management system, select Exit and then close the tab or window.
- All of the same courses that you see on the Active and Inactive tabs on the My Courses page are listed except courses that are based on retired course materials, courses pending creation or deletion, and copies made from instructor or coordinator courses.
- Coordinator courses and instructor courses are listed first in descending order by creation date, followed by student courses in descending order by creation date.
- MyLab and Mastering course IDs are unique, so a course ID search shows only one result. To search for a different course, enter its course ID and select .
- If there's no match when trying to copy another instructor's course, ask the course owner to double-check the Allow Copy setting. Enter the course ID and search again.
- Select the course you want to copy.
- If new edition or new version course materials are available, you can Select new edition or Select new version.
You can’t copy retired materials to a new course.
- Enter course details.
- Select Create Course.
Your existing course list results do not include copies made from instructor courses or coordinator courses. To create a new course from one of those copies:
- Go to My Courses, find the instructor or coordinator course, and select Active Student Courses (for an instructor course) or Active Member Sections (for a coordinator course) to open the list of course copies.
- Select for the copy you want to copy, then Copy this course.
