Do homework with JAWS

When you do homework and Study Plan questions, the player is in homework mode.

You can cut, copy, and paste using keyboard shortcuts; you also can use the command-line language to enter special characters and symbols. See Use the command-line language with JAWS for descriptions of the keyboard shortcuts and the command-line language.

In homework mode, the player displays the following information:

  • The homework name and objective.
  • How many questions you have answered correctly.
  • Your current score.
  • The number of questions you have answered out of the total number of questions in the homework.

Below this information, the player has a work area where you read the question and enter your answer.

The player has the following buttons in homework mode:

  • Overview opens a list of questions in the homework.
  • Check Answer tells you whether you answered correctly. In a multi-part problem, this button changes to Continue so you can move to the next part.

For many questions, the Check Answer button changes to Similar exercise after you have checked your answer. This button lets you try the same question again but with different values. Your score on the question (correct or incorrect) is determined by your most recent attempt.

  • Clear All clears your current answer and returns the problem to its original state so you can enter a new answer. In problems with multiple steps, the answer to the current part is cleared.
  • Save saves your answers and closes the player. Whether you click Save or not, your score on a question is entered in your instructor's Gradebook when you get the correct answer or when the answer is marked wrong.
  • Submit enters your final score in your instructor's Gradebook. After you have answered all the questions, the Save button changes to Submit .

The player also has these buttons:

  • A button for each learning aid that is available for this question. Click a learning aid button to get help with answering the question.
  • Numbered buttons that let you move to any question in the activity.
