Do prerequisite assignments
A prerequisite is an assignment you have to finish before you can begin another assignment. A prerequisite can be any type of assignment, including Study Plan work, and can apply to any type of assignment. An assignment can have more than one prerequisite.
For example, you might have to do Study Plan work on a section before you can take a quiz for that section. In this example, the Study Plan work is a prerequisite for the quiz.
You also might have to get a certain score on the prerequisite assignment. For example, you might need to get at least 75% on a homework assignment before you can take a test.
If an assignment has a prerequisite, you see a flag icon in the Due column for that assignment on the Homework and Tests page. After you have done the prerequisite assignment, this flag icon disappears.
You can position your mouse cursor on the flag or the assignment name to see information about the prerequisite. For example, the information might say, "You must score at least 75% on Chapter 6 Homework before starting this assignment."
When you start the prerequisite assignment, you see a message about the requirements you must meet. For example, the message might say, "You must score at least 75% before you can begin Chapter 6 Quiz." If the prerequisite is a homework assignment, this message is displayed in the Homework Overview. If it is a test or quiz, the message is displayed in the Are you ready to start? window.
If you are having trouble getting the required score, what you do depends on the type of assignment:
- Homework - You can continue working on a homework assignment until the due date has passed.
- Test or quiz - If you are allowed multiple attempts, retake the test to see if you can improve your score.
If you are still unable to meet the minimum score required, talk to your instructor.
